Get ready for fireworks to celebrate St George’s Day - they will be happening on Saturday April 25th in The Polegrove.

At last the community fireworks event postponed from last year is on its way and as this is the first event organised by Bexhill Bonfire Society in many decades it should be a special night.

This will be fun for all the family - live music starts from 6.30pm in the marquee and food and refreshment will be available with a beer tent for the grown-ups.

The sounds will be provided by a sizzling line-up which includes Georgia Faye Steele, Hellcats, and Intruda with Kidzie, but headlining after the firework show at 9pm will be Dorey The Wise.

Entrance is free but you must have a ticket - these are being limited to 1,500, and only available to pick up in person from the De La Warr Pavilion. Anyone arriving on the gate without a ticket will not be allowed in.

Organiser Stuart Wray has been thrilled with the amount of support and enthusiasm shown by local residents in the prospect of a firework night and the constant level of interest as to when it might finally happen.

He said: “It has been really great. We had the build-up last year but then people have still been contacting us asking when it is going to happen. Thats why tickets have to be given out in advance, to avoid 2,000 people coming in. We have to be limited to that number, and to avoid disappointment we have issued tickets. It is exciting. There has been a long build-up but it is so close now - and this is a quiet time when not much else is happening.”
