Ladies Friendship Club

On Wednesday 1st July the Club were welcomed by our Chairman, Mrs. Barbara Lindsay, who immediately handed over to Jackie Saunders. Jackie announced that we were now six months old and today have a membership of 49. The Club was founded on the friendship formed through T.G. and that every member is valued. This is how we wish it to continue and she hoped that everybody agreed with her, there was a definite response to this.

Back to our Chairman and Barbara reminded the Club that the Committee is a Caretaker Committee and asked the Ladies to think about putting their own names forward at our AGM in January. Barbara also said how nice it was to see our Treasurer, Brenda, with us after her knee operation.

On the hottest day of the year it was great that 35 Ladies and five visitors were in attendance.

After some notices, Barbara introduced one of our own members, Margaret Crisp, who was standing in at short notice as our arranged speaker was unable to attend. Margaret gave a very interesting talk about her holiday in Iceland.

We all enjoy the brain teasers set by Sheila Keen, no prizes but a lot of laughs.

The Club is on holiday throughout August apart from the Tea Club and the Luncheon Club. We cannot go without our food. On our return in September Jackie Saunders will be taking the Chair. All visitors welcome. We meet on the 1st Wednesday in the month. 1.30 for 2 p.m. at the Little Common Community Centre.
