60th birthday choral concert
BEXHILL Choral Society (BCS) celebrates its Diamond Jubilee this season, and due to a grant from Rother District Council, some generous donations from within the society, and some fundraising events, we are putting on a 60th Birthday Gala Performance of Great Choral Classics in the De La Warr Pavilion on Saturday May 12 at 7.30pm,
With the Sussex Concert Orchestra under our director of music, Kenneth Roberts, the concert will include Parry’s I was Glad, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, and Verdi’s Grand March from Aida.
Tickets are already on sale at the De La Warr Pavilion Box Office.
We would like to print a special programme, recalling some performances from previous concerts, but unfortunately we do not have a complete record of concerts since 1952.
We wonder if members of the public, particularly retired members of BCS, have any old programmes, photos, or newspaper cuttings which might fill in our missing information?
If anyone has such memorabilia, we would love to borrow it and take photocopies. We would be sure to return the originals to their owners quickly and safely.
