IN my youth I found that there was one noticeable thing when you dictated your address over the phone for a posting to your house.

Very frequently Bexhill became Boxhill.

Now with literacy in schools becoming spectacularly awful and with computers, iPhones etc., replacing the teaching of basics at school, a new phenomenon has started to manifest itself for our town. Letters are now frequently sent to “Becks Hill”, if they are too ashamed to say “How do you spell it? I simply say you spell it like “sex” ... everyone’s heard of that.
