Use for ‘those’ balls
AT last a useful and media worthy way can be found of ridding Bexhill’s Devonshire Square of the appalling “Gubby’s Balls” which have visually defaced the space for several years, removed a useful parking facility in the town centre shopping area, and created an arid and unappealing wasteland.
The Indonesian Railways have now begun installing large hanging balls above their train tracks to try to stop commuters from riding for free on carriage roofs. The first were recently hung just above carriage height at a station near the capital, Jakarta, and it is planned to extend the scheme nationwide, necessitating a considerable need for balls.
The removal and gift by the Rother Authorities of the hated Gubby’s Balls to to the Indonesian Government as part of this scheme would be an unusual and valid gesture of philanthrophy to a developing economy, generate much international media attention, and bring considerable relief to local traders, passers by, shoppers and Post Office users. Exploratory discussions should begin as soon as possible with the Indonesian Embassy to the United Kingdom.
