Last week’s Observer revealed how residents, traders and drivers could expect more “pain” for the next two months with traffic hold-ups and diversion as link road construction gathers pace.

East Sussex County Council has just completed a letter drop to 14,000 homes in the area to inform what is happening and warn of upcoming events.

These include:

- Woodsgate Park Bridge is due to reopen to traffic at the end of this month or early next month.

Before this happens, the temporary Woodsgate Park pedestrian bridge will be closed to allow for services to be relocated to the new bridge. This is expected to take around two weeks. A pedestrian diversion route will be in place

- Ninfield Road Bridge will close to traffic in late spring and early summer, coinciding with the opening of a new, temporary footbridge. The new Ninfield Road Bridge is due to be completed late this year.

- Work continues at the junction of the A259 London Road, Belle Hill/ King Offa way and A269 London Road, to provide the connection between the A259 and the Link Road.

The council expects to carry out some overnight lane closures at this junction, with contraflow in operation, at the end of this month or early next month.

- East Sussex County Council has pledged to keep residents updated with dates for all works as the plan progresses. Updates are also available online at
