The annual Christmas Appeal by Bexhill Lions was a great success raising more than £5,000 for good causes.

Lions President Paul Fleming said: “The people of Bexhill have once again demonstrated their caring and generosity in donating money to our Christmas Appeal for which we offer a really big “thank you”.

At weekends in December, members and friends of Bexhill Lions were out with their barrel organs and sleigh in Western Road, Devonshire Road and Little Common as well as Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

In the evenings, Santa and his helpers with their illuminated sleigh and Christmas music toured residential areas of Bexhill.

Paul added “ These collections raised over £5,600.00, an amazing amount, which was significantly higher than last year. We are tremendously grateful to the residents of Bexhill for their generosity and continued support of Bexhill Lions Club.”

The Club also placed Christmas cakes in a range of retail outlets, cafes, restaurants and hairdressers in town as Lucky Draw prizes.

Christmas Appeals organiser, Brian Comber said “ A tremendous result, in addition to which is the money raised through individual sponsorship by the Santa Dash entrants, which we believe is approximately £2,500.

“All the money raised will be used to support our activities during the coming year. We will continue to offer support to community and youth groups as well as to charities and individuals in need.”
