The Pets at Home stores in Hastings and Bexhill are looking for an animal charity to be an official partner.

A spokesperson for the company said: “This is a great opportunity for animal charities to raise extra money and be supported by a major retailer.

“We would like to appeal to the charities in your readership area to nominate themselves for consideration. Charities must be within a 20 mile radius of the store.”

Pets at Home has outlets at Sedlescombe Road North, in Hastings, and Ravenside at Bexhill.

The company backs the grant giving animal charity, Support Adoption For Pets.

Since being established in 2006, Support Adoption For Pets has helped over 920 rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK by awarding grants and running fundraising campaigns with Pets at Home.

The charity, along with store colleagues at the local stores, is calling on local animal charities, rescue centres and welfare organisations to contact them and nominate themselves to join the charity partnership scheme.

The scheme offers support from both Support Adoption For Pets and the local Pets at Home store through a range of activities, including the chance to increase awareness and funds via in-store ‘meet and greet’ events and also eligibility to be nominated and take part in the national fundraising drives run by Support Adoption For Pets during the year.

Amy Wilson, Charity Manager at Support Adoption For Pets , said: “Since being established in 2006, we have helped over 920 re-homing centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK.

“Our local charity partner scheme, in association with Pets at Home stores, has proved very successful across the UK and we can’t wait to be able to support an animal cause in the Hastings and Bexhill areas.

In the last year alone, Support Adoption For Pets has raised more than £3.1 million. This money has been used to support rehoming centres continue the vital work they do. For some this has meant a welcome boost to funds. However, for many others it represents a financial lifeline.
