St Mary’s Special School and 6th Form College have announced the arrival of new Principle Fran Pass.
A spokesperson for St Mary’s said having bid a fond farewell to head teacher of 29 years Jo Whiteman, they welcomed Mrs Pass with her extensive history of working at a senior level both in Special and Mainstream schools, adding: “Her experiences include Head Teacher of two Pupil Referral Units, Senior Advisor for Kent (Access and Inclusion), School Improvement Partner for Mainstream Secondary and Special schools, Deputy to the Behaviour Support Service East Sussex and her most recent appointment in 2008 of Vice Principal (curriculum and quality) for an Independent Special School.
“Fran’s passion is to raise the achievement of all pupils. Having just achieved ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted across the board with her previous school, she is confident that she has the skills and knowledge to lead St Mary’s in achieving an equal status.”
Mrs Pass said she is looking forward to working with students, parents, and dedicated, highly skilled professional staff providing a first class education and a comprehensive range of therapy. “I am very aware that the staff, children and students and parents have been working hard to make St Mary’s a unique school and I do not want to lose this important aspect of the schools ethos. I aim to improve on the school’s existing strengths and will work steadfastly so that we reach ‘outstanding’ in recognition of the great work that we do now, and that which we will achieve.”
