A Bexhill resident who booked a holiday with recently defunct M E Travel is appealing for people travelling on the same day to share the cost of a cab to the airport.
Margaret Garcia and mum Ivy Philcox booked a seven night holiday with M E Travel to Jersey from on August 9.
After the collapse of M E Travel, in Western Road, last month, Margaret initially feared that they may lose their holiday and the deposit, but her fears were eased when she heard from tour operator Premier Holidays.
Margaret said: “Premier said the holiday is safe but whereas the seven night break booked with M E Travel included being collected from home and taken to the airport, Premier won’t cover this and say the holiday begins and ends at Gatwick airport.”
This means that Margaret, a former Bexhill Observer freelance photographer, and Ivy now have to fund the cost of travel to and from Gatwick themselves.
She aid: “Maybe other people might not realise that, though the holidays they booked with M E Travel may be safe, they have lost that door to door service. There must be many people booked on the same holiday as us or travelling on the same day to Gatwick and we are hoping to find a minimum of two couples to share the cost.”
The return cost of six people sharing a minibus will be around £25 per couple. Email: email@example.com
