A FEAR of heights did not stop one brave man from first scaling and then launching himself off a 200 foot crane to do a bungee jump - all in the name of charity.
Pete Davies was one of 17 fearless ‘jumpers’ at the special event held at the New Inn, Sidley, on Sunday October 20. Prior to doing the jump Pete admitted he was petrified of heights but then went on to make a second jump, declaring: “It was the best experience ever!”
The event was organised by The New Inn’s landlady Jo Vinall and she, along with 16 other bungee jumpers, took the challenge to raise funds for the Cancer Research UK & Macmillan Cancer Support charities.
Jo said they were inspired to do the jump and raise funds for the cancer charities following the recent death of Sidley resident Danielle Crouch who died of cancer aged 33 in August, adding: “We wanted to do something in her memory.”
“So far, monies pledged are approximately £4000.00 with The New Inn pledging a further £500.00, making £4,500 in total.
“The support and amount of people on Sidley Green surpassed everyone’s expectations.”
