Heavy machinery rolled onto farmland this month to start work on the North-East Bexhill gateway road.
It signified the start of work towards regeneration and growth with a promise from Rother District Council for new jobs, homes, and easier travel.
The gateway road is designed to open up access to the Bexhill Enterprise Park site and so make its development possible.
It will provide access to the park from the Link Road to the north, and from Wrestwood Road to the south.
It’s set to join the Link Road via a roundabout and Wrestwood Road via a T-junction.
It will also have a small roundabout part way down it to provide access into the business site.
The construction is scheduled to be completed ready for the Link Road to be opened - which itself is expected to be by mid-2015.
The current early phase construction for the Gateway Road include works to lay out the line of the road, establish appropriate drainage and put in place a haul road to enable construction vehicles and machinery to operate at multiple points along the road route as needed.
The road proposals by Seachange Sussex were given permission by Rother’s planners last summer but this month has also seen its application for a new business mall known ast The Hub being approved. The three storey development will cover 3,256 square metres
