Cash-strapped first-time buyers have the chance to snap up a newly built home in Bexhill thanks to a shared ownership scheme.
Rother District Council has unveiled a scheme which they hope will help those wanting to get onto the property ladder with the opportunity to part-buy one of eight remaining properties at Wellington House off Wrestwood Road.
Each of the two bedroom homes includes a balcony or direct access to shared gardens and priority for these properties will be given to those living or working in the Rother district.
The properties, available through AmicusHorizon, are part of the Government backed shared ownership scheme which enables buyers to part purchase a property and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining equity.
Homeowners can then continue to invest by buying further shares in the property and eventually own the home.
“Saving for a large deposit on a property can put buying their own home out of many people’s reach,” said Cllr Joy Hughes, portfolio holder for housing.
“This scheme gives everyone a fair chance at owning their own place.
“These properties are perfectly placed for commuters, with good bus, rail and road links, and will enable people to stay close to family and friends.”
