Police are seeking witnesses to an accident in Bexhill on Friday (January 31) that left a pensioner in a critical condition in hospital.

Police say the incident happened at 7.35pm on Friday. A black BMW 330 convertible driven by an 81-year old local man reversed into two parked cars and a lamppost in The Marina, Bexhill, at the junction with Sackville Road, opposite the De La Warr Pavilion.

The driver sustained a head injury and was taken to the Conquest Hospital at Hastings where he is described as being ‘in a critical but stable condition’.

Sergeant David Morgan of the Sussex Road Policing Unit at Polegate said; “If you saw what happened please contact us via 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation West.”
