Andrew Voyce and Ann Collins of Thalia House raised an impressive £470 for the Bexhill Foodbank with a most unusual challenge. The couple fasted, and only spending £1.00 per day on food or drink, not only discovered how difficult it was to stick to the regime, but also in practical terms, that it could not be sustainable.
Both admitted to losing weight in the 5 days of their fast.
Andrew and Ann were encouraged by the residents of Thalia House, who have already demonstrated their support of Bexhill Foodbank with collections, along with friends and parishoners, and presented a cheque and cash to the Foodbank on Monday, 27th January.
Andrew said: “It is hard to imagine how anyone anywhere can live and feed themselves on so little money, and it was clear that this could never be tenable in the long term. It clearly shows how the Foodbank is so necessary for those in crisis”.
Bexhill Foodbank is one of the Churches Together in Bexhill projects, which started in December 2011, and is now based in Station Road.
The store is open on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3pm, and Thursday mornings from 10am to noon.
