An emergency meeting was held by Bexhill Town Forum’s executive committee following the surprise departure of its chairman.
Phil Lee - who held the position since June having acted previously as vice-chairman - has called it a day because of personal reasons. His partner has a longterm illness and he needs to spend time with her and other family members.
He commented: “After almost three and a half years in this committee, I have reviewed my position and felt that I need to move on.”
This leaves the Forum with the job of finding a replacement and this will be a priority at the next meeting.
Newly-elected Vice Chairman Nick Hollington - who took over from Andrew Crotty at the last Forum - commented: “We are sorry to lose Phil – it has come as something of a shock – but we understand his position and thank him for the work he has put in to get the newly-independent Forum off the ground, as well as for his work as Vice Chairman of the previous Forum.”
Nick will chair meetings of the Executive Committee to plan the next Forum meeting at St Peter’s Community Hall on Tuesday February 19 from 6.30pm when subjects such as the Oasis Garden and the planned new Sports Centre will be discussed and an election held for a new chairman.
“We are a new team tackling a challenging role to give the people of Bexhill a voice on what happens to their town,” says Nick.
“I invite anyone who shares our commitment, to come forward as a candidate for election to the position of Chairman of the Forum.
