They all put their best paw forward - the gorgeous dogs who dazzled Bexhill seafront when they joined in the Pooches On The Prom event organised by Demelza Hospice for children.
Julie Brett of the hospice said: “We had 57 dogs on the walk and over 100 entries in the Dog Show!
The walk procession was started by Harry, the winner of our photo competition. After the walk we held the dog show with 10 classes, ranging from Most Handsome Dog to Best Fancy Dress. Each class winner then competed for Best in Show. The overall winner was one of the dogs that we short-listed from the Photo Competition that we ran in the Observer!
Fred is a three year old Dalmatian cross German Pointer and his favourite thing to do is to run with the seagulls on Bexhill beach. He had a very special dinner as a reward for winning the Best in Show rosette – but the whole event wore him out as he slept in for an extra two hours the morning after, giving his owner, Rachel, a lovely lie-in.
We’ve raised £1,152.65 from the event – so I’d like to thank everyone who came along on the day, our Event Sponsors Whatlington Garage and, of course, the Bexhill Observer for all the wonderful help with publicity! The event was held in memory of Charlotte Craggs, a girl who used the services of Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Her family would also like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who supported the event.”
