HIGHWOODS Preservation Society is once again holding a series of Fungi Forays this autumn.
This year’s dates are Saturday, September 13, Saturday, October 11 and Saturday, November 1.
Each month thehope is to find different species, depending on the weather and temperature.
These enjoyable and informal forays last for about 1½ hours, and start from the car park off the northern section of Peartree Lane at 10am.)The High Woods is one of the best sites for fungi in East Sussex and boasts an impressive list of over 150 recorded species. Each year this list is added to, so, why not try your hand at identification?
It would be helpful to bring a field guide and a small magnifying glass. Wellington boots are advisable if the weather has been wet.
There is no charge but a donation would be appreciated.
