Workmen has begun the transformation of the ground floor of St Michael’s Hospice and its Day Therapy.
The charity in April was granted £441,848 by the Department of Health to improve its facilities for patients, family and visitors.
Over the next 18 weeks, work will take place to redesign the ground floor, in-patient area and the Day Therapy areas.
A new Art Therapy suite will be added as well as a photography suite and a café-style I.T area for patients, and there will be new en-suite family accommodation on the first floor.
The nurses’ station will be transformed to create a more informal, open and contemporary space with a dedicated teaching and office area.
Hospice press officer Emma Meeres said: “We are really excited about the project and to have been given the opportunity to make such important improvements to the Hospice.
“Obviously as the works go on there are a number of changes to our in-patient and Day Therapy services, please visit www.stmichaelshospice.com to find out more, email email@example.com or contact our reception on 01424 445177.”
