Egerton Park will become the venue for a major event for Bexhill on Saturday and Sunday June 7 & 8,
All Bexhill churches are joining together to celebrate the Pentecost Festival (formerly Whit Sunday) and have combined with the Friends of Egerton Park with the Party in the Park.
Cllr Michael Ensor said Saturday will be a whole lot of fun and games, 12noon-4pm, with a live band, and stalls around the main lawn, Bexhill Lions Club will serve their speciality BBQ, ice creams from the Kiosk, and refreshments. “Highlight will be the competition of ‘It’s a Knock Out’ where teams of six will test themselves against the clock on challenging tasks, some of which may cause the teams to get rather wet.” Games, include ‘The Cannon Run’ and the ‘Race Car on Rollers’.
On Saturday evening there’s a concert in the Grand Marquee 7pm-9pm, where The Wacky Band and a local youth acoustic band will entertain. Cllr Ensor said thanks to generous donations by the churches and other friends, all events are free of charge. “Even the evening concert will have no charge for entrance. This is a change from previous announcements, and is because the churches want to be a blessing to the town on this special weekend.”
Sunday events will mainly be in the marquee with the Living World church holding and open event from 10am. A United Churches together service of Pentecost Celebration is at 3pm. For more details call 01424 731006/225918.
