A Bexhill resident who has been a volunteer with Guide Dogs for the Blind Association for 37 years said she loves fundraising for the charity.

Barbara Grice, said with the average working life of a guide dog being five to six years and with no Government funding, the Guide Dog charity depends entirely upon public support. “It’s very rewarding to be able to raise money to provide guide dogs for people who are blind and partially sighted. It gives these people a chance at life that other’s experience.”

In celebration of Volunteers’ Week (June 1-7) Barbara, along with other volunteers and representatives from the Guide Dogs attended the Edgyfest event at Egerton Park. Volunteers’ Week celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK.
