Volunteers from the Bexhill Hastings Link Road team have been donating their time and skills to St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards.

Engineering Manager Paul Hinkley and Road Works Sub Agent Ryno Harmse gave up a day to install shelving in a storeroom used by fundraisers at the hospice, which is the link road’s adopted charity for the year.

Tim Faulkes, the hospice’s premises manager, said: “We are grateful for the racking out that the guys did, the fundraising department are extremely happy with it.”

Last year the link road team raised £1,000 for the hospice at a special Christmas party.

This is the first of a number of volunteering events the team has planned for St Michael’s Hospice this year and for other causes in the Bexhill and Hastings areas.

Bob Pape, the link road project manager, said: “We are delighted to help out not only with fund raising for local good causes but also by using the considerable range of skills that our workforce has to offer.”
