Following the launch of the Izzard Theatre at Bexhill 6th Form College, which included a performance and official unveiling ceremony by Eddie Izzard, West End stars and college students joined forces to perform the Gala Show, ‘On an Ordinary Sunday’.
The show featured West End stars Carl Sanderson, Christopher Howell, Sarah Harlington and former West End performers Natalie Roberts, and Adam Hepkin. They were joined by Bexhill College students who ‘relished’ the opportunity to work and perform with professionals.
Alongside West End talent, students impressed the audience with a variety of familiar songs drawn from famous musicals. Sarah Coleman’s solo performance of ‘On My Own’ from Les Miserables was one highlight of the event as was a medley from Titanic, the musical being performed ahead of this year’s College musical on April 4 and 5.
The Izzard Theatre features a 200-seater theatre, separate rehearsal spaces, green rooms, a drama studio, a fully equipped kitchen, recording rooms and conference facilities. The theatre is available to hire for performances by touring and local theatre companies, as well as community groups for conferences and other events later this year.
A college spokesman said: “Thanks go to everyone who came along to support the Izzard Theatre launch events at the end of last year.” For information on upcoming events or hiring the theatre call on 01424 214545 or visit the website www.bexhillcollege.ac.uk
