Bexhill Lions club has a new President and to celebrate the occasion members and ‘Friends of Bexhill Lions’ enjoyed an evening of hospitality courtesy of outgoing President June Hough.
Taking up the reigns from Lion June is long serving Lion Richard Winrow. A Lion for almost 10 years Richard transferred to Bexhill Lions Club from Windsor Lions when he moved to the town around two and a half years ago.
For the past year Richard has been Bexhill Lions’ club PR, marketing and fund raising officer.
The handing over of the Chain of Office to Richard, who will be President for the next 12 months, was celebrated at a social event held at June and Rick Hough’s home.
June thanked all members for their support and hard work over the past 12 months and said she had really enjoyed her term of office.
Richard thanked June for her leadership of the Club, in what he said had been a very successful year. “Not only in terms of fund raising and donations but also in terms of achieving the goals that June had set at the start of her year. Namely, to bring in new members and establish the ‘Friends of Bexhill Lions’.”
During his year of office Richard plans to continue the Lions’ good work in the community. “In my year I want to focus on supporting youth in Bexhill and to enhance our involvement with the community. I’m looking forward to the next 12 months and aim to keep the fun in our FUNdraising.
“This starts with a busy summer of events including our Triathlon/Duathlon on July 13, the Roaring 20s day, Bexhill MotoFest and the Bexhill Festival of the Sea.”
