Severe weather has lashed the south with almost 12,000 homes without power in rural areas such as Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, and Pevensey Bay.
Bexhill has taken the force of coastal winds approaching 80mph with one resident saying the sea was the roughest seen in 35 years living in town.
Sussex Police shut off Wickham Avenue on Monday because of a fallen tree while East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews were kept busy attending to a variety of emergencies.
In the early evening firefighters isolated electrics after flooding in a home in Little Common, and were called out to Marina News on the corner of Eversley Road with the Marina, when the shop window and door were blown in. The area was made safe.
They dealt with call-outs during the night such as a fence blown down in Sidley Street and unsafe chimney at a home in London Road as well as other dangerous structures.
Both ESFRS and Sussex Police urge people not to take risks, particularly when out on roads, with more storms expected.
