For the 22nd year, Bexhill Rotary Club’s International Committee held another sun drenched spring lunch on Sunday 13th April at St Mary’s in Wrestwood Road and raised in the region of £1,400 for international worthy causes.
More than 100 Rotarians, family and friends, plus a strong posse of Past Rotarians, were welcomed by International Committee Chairman Raouf Oderuth after which the assembled throng tucked into a scrumptious four-course lunch.
The lunch was prepared specially for the occasion by Bexhill Rotarians Peter Mitchell-Davis, Keith Walter, Raouf and Vivien Oderuth and Hugh Allen plus St Mary’s staff under the expert leadership of St Mary’s Head of Catering, Tracie Wilson. Thanks should also go to Pat Coles for the flower arrangements, and to Pauline Cooper, Anthony and Barbara Thomas for dispensing the pre-lunch drinks. All the proceeds from the lunch, which included a raffle, will be split between Senlac Rotary Club’s ongoing Yellowmen of Kadongdong projects in Kenya, Shelterbox which is a Rotary initiative providing emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies in disaster areas worldwide, and the Don McMath Foundation where Bexhill Rotary has a close affinity with its education mission in Gambia.
John Cooper in his ‘President’s Message’ said: “This lunch is the flagship event for our International Committee to raise funds and highlight the continuing commitment by Bexhill Rotary Club in support of international initiatives on a global basis.”
