GOOD-hearted staff at Sainsbury’s have voted Guide Dogs for the Blind as their chosen charity for the second year in succession.

One day, Quinn could act as the “eyes” of a visually-handicapped person. At present the nine and a half month-old is in the care of Guide Dogs puppy-walker Julia Delibero until he starts his formal training.

But on Tuesday, Quinn was in public relations mode – attracting the attention of shoppers at Sainsbury’s Bexhill store to the fact that volunteers from the Bexhill, Hastings and Rother branch of Guide Dogs had a stall and were collecting.

Quinn was also acting as focal-point for a photo-call to mark the beginning of the Bexhill store staff’s second year in supporting the charity.

Store Trainer HR, Tarnya Hall said that each year the store’s staff – currently numbering 81 – vote for a charity to support. We did Guide Dogs last year as our charity of the year and we have done it again this year. We offer them support and we do some stuff in-store. For Guide Dogs Week in early October, for example, everyone will be wearing yellow. We are planning a sponsored walk. We are getting people together – with their dogs – and we are going to walk from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier. “

Guide Dogs branch chairman Barbara Grice said: “We are delighted to be working with Sainsbury’s for a second year.”
