Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at an art and craft shop in Parkhurst Road, Bexhill.
A large selection of valuable art materials including paint, brushes and pencils were stolen during the break-in at In-Perspective between 5.30pm on Wednesday October 16 and 8.30am the next day.
A police spokesman said: “Whoever broke in had specialist knowledge and ignored cheaper items in favour of the most valuable brands.”
In-Perspective proprietor Mark Axton confirmed that the thieves knew what they were looking for: “They definitely knew which items were the most valuable - there’s no way they would have taken what they did if they hadn’t.”
Police said they would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in or around Parkhurst Road on the night of the burglary, adding: “If you are offered high value art equipment at bargain basement prices please contact us. If the deals seem too good to be true they probably are.”
