Staff from Bexhill insurer Hastings Direct raised £1,200 in support of breast cancer when the company turned pink for a day.
To help fundraise for The Pink Ribbon Foundation which supports breast cancer charities, research and funding, staff wore pink, had pink manicures and participated in a massive cake bake and doughnut sale which alone raised £800.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month as in the UK, a person is diagnosed with breast cancer every ten minutes and the life time risk for women is one in eight. One of Hastings Direct’s brands insurepink donates from every policy sold and currently raises over £3,000 a week for breast cancer research and funding.
Jay Wootten, community liaison at Hastings Direct, said: “There is not a single member of staff whose life has not been touched by cancer and we are proud to have raised so much in support of breast cancer in just one day”.
