Volunteers needed for the latest beach clearance

Bexhill beach clean up

Bexhill beach clean up

The rubbish just keeps coming, so BEG - Bexhill Environmental Group - keeps on with its cleaning project.

The group hopes for another “brilliant” response from the Bexhill public for the beach clean tomorrow morning.

Joe Conneally - the marine coordinator for BEG said: “This is a great, hands on event, which unites and embraces whole families and individuals.

“We meet from 10am until 11.30am on the prom near the public conveniences at the west end of West Parade, (junction of Richmond Rd) and we hope to clear away a large amount of harmful waste.

“All types of plastic, netting used by trawlers and lots of other rubbish, is commonly washed onto the beach.

“Litter pollution is not only an eyesore but is also a danger to the amazing wildlife in our seas and on our beaches.

“Finally, we are fully insured and provide equipment and refreshments but volunteers are asked to wear strong gloves and appropriate footwear.”

Pictured are volunteers from the last beach clean which saw bagfuls of rubbish and waste removed from the Galley Hill end.
