Volunteers are invited to join Bexhill’s local environmental group to help clean the beach of tons of rubbish left from the winter storms.
During the winter months the combination of strong winds and high tides resulted in a large variety of rubbish landing on Bexhill beaches - a hazard to both marine life and to those enjoying our wonderful coast.
Bexhill Environmental Group (BEG) undertake beach cleaning once a month during the winter months, a period when Rother District Council do not provide this service.
BEG are organising a beach clean this Saturday (March 22) 10.00am-12noon on the prom, by the toilets on West Parade by the junction Richmond Road.
BEG member Joe Conneally said the beach clean’s to date received a lot of support and have been a great success but more needs to be done, adding: “If you can help for as little or as long as you can spare just turn up, dressed for the weather.”
“We provide gloves, grabbers, buckets, provided by our sponsors Cooden Beach Hotel and B & Q Bexhill, and a warm welcome - with a hot drink for when you return. “The latter courtesy of the Little Common branch of the Co-op.”
