This weekend will be one of colour, music and plenty of fun in Ninfield as the carnival gets underway.
The procession is taking place on Saturday July 12 with a Ninfield’s Got Talent event today (Friday). After the competition, there will be a disco until midnight, complete with a bar and barbecue. Entrance is £2.50 for adults and £1 for children.
On Saturday there will be some new events and attractions on the rec with a boot sale from 11am - 4pm alongside the usual craft stalls, charity stands and games including a bungee run and an assault course. For the first time there will be The Great Ninfield Bake Off, so people have the chance to get their recipes together and join in the fun.
There will be an arena full of fun events throughout the afternoon with a display from ESRM Hounds and entertainment from Ninfield School Singers and Dance Club Dancers. Visitors can also enjoy the dogshow and It’s a (World Cup) Knockout - where teams of four will compete for the Challenge Cup. The evening event will see songs from the band Sarah G and the Other Three, and there will be a cabaret in the break performed by residents and based on Animal Magic and The Jungle Book. The bar and barbecue will be in full swing with entrance for the evening £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
The judging of fancy dress and floats in the carnival will take place around 11am on Saturday with the procession set to leave Lower Street by midday and heading to the Ninfield Recreation Ground by 1pm.
Sami Guard, from the Ninfield Carnival Committee, said she was thrilled with how well supported the carnival is, adding: We’re trying to raise as much money as possible for local charities and local projects.”
