Teachers Gary Newport and Stephen Hone ran a marathon in Bexhill College’s reception to fundraise for Children With Cancer UK and Sport Relief ahead of their bid to run 100k from London to Brighton.

They did their marathons on a treadmill in the foyer with students and staff passing all day and donating generously. The pair’s effort was part of training for the London 2 Brighton Challenge in aid of Children with Cancer UK.

They will set off at 5am on Saturday May 24 and run from Richmond, Surrey, down to Brighton Race Course – the equivalent of around two and half marathons consecutively.

This feat of endurance requires an intense programme of training, including covering an average distance of 60 miles per week for 10 weeks. By the time Stephen and Gary cross the finish line they will have run over 1,000 miles – the equivalent of running from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back to Exeter!

Gary and Stephen are training in and around Hastings and Bexhill in their tops branded with the Bexhill College and Children with Cancer logos and they’d appreciate any cheering as they pass by.

If you would like to support Stephen and Gary through this event then please donate either through their online page or text SGUM62 and the amount to 70070.
