Could the cuts to DLWP affect its maintenance?
IT comes as no surprise to see the De La Warr Pavilion is facing huge cuts to its budget.
With the government turning the screw on services such as health and education, the arts could be seen by some as less vital and more able to take a slash in funds.
While exhibitions and opening hours remain a controversial issue locally, it cannot be denied that the iconic building is immensely important to the fortunes of Bexhill.
The De La Warr Pavilion itself is recognised as one of the finest examples of Modernist architecture to be found anywhere in the world.
By itself that does draw the eye to Bexhill - especially those of would-be visitors looking for a relaxing seaside break coupled with places of interest which break away from the norm.
It is not known yet what effects the proposed cuts from Arts Council England will have on the trust which runs the venue.
No doubt this will eventually take its toll on exhibitions and events, which would be a great shame as one local concern is that the building isn't used enough.
However one of the biggest worries would be upkeep. The De La Warr Pavilion has been in a great sense of repair since the trust refurbished it in 2005.
Let's hope the funding cuts don't affect the maintenance of this Modernist masterpiece, as that would be disastrous.
There's always one to spoil fun
THERE has been much speculation as to the identity of MONK, the graffiti vandal who has lately been plaguing the town with his or her spray-can.
If MONK's antics really are threatening the future of the graffiti wall newly installed for young artists at Galley Hill, then the law-abiding youngsters will lose out.
There is always one who has to ruin the fun for everybody else.
