Making the Most of our Local Hospital

Every family appreciates the reassurance of good local healthcare.

Knowing that you can pop into A and E with a poorly child or be on hand to visit an elderly inpatient adds immeasurably to our quality of life.

Sadly, the residents of Bexhill are trapped between the two large hospitals in Eastbourne and Hastings and the long round trip can seem a steep price to pay for peace of mind and treatment for a serious cut, badly twisted ankle or other minor injury.

That's why I have been campaigning so hard for a minor injuries unit at Bexhill hospital. An enhanced hospital in our town would be a lifeline for those requiring minor treatments, who find themselves stuck between Eastbourne and Hastings, with long journeys to either. The Bexhill Hospital site is a major resource which should be used more effectively and is the perfect place for such a unit.

Given the high number of elderly in Bexhill (especially those without cars) and families on low income, the convenience of a local minor injuries unit would vastly add to the provision of useful healthcare in the town.

This is not the first time we have pushed for greater medical facilities for Bexhill residents but as the PCT review the provision of local services the time is right to push again to upgrade Bexhill Hospital.

Please follow the link below and sign my petition to secure Bexhill a new minor injuries unit.
