Rain fails to deter strength of feeling
THIS week has shown rain does not deter the people of Bexhill when they feel an issue is important enough.
A blustery Remembrance Sunday still saw great crowds turning out to the Bexhill and Little Common war memorials to honour those who lost their lives in battle.
It just goes to show the Remembrance tradition now is more important than ever.
The generation of First World War veterans has entirely passed on with the death of Henry Allingham this year, and the number of troops killed serving in Afghanistan today is escalating.
And last Friday, damp and cold didn't stop residents turning out to BALI's public meeting at Bexhill High School against landfill at Ashdown Brickworks.
The strength of feeling against East Sussex County Council's plans was such that 60 people were locked out of the meeting due to health and safety legislation on overcrowding.
But this hardiness is not really an excuse to build seafront shelters which let the elements in - after all a stroll along the promenade should be as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Superb Serpollet
BEXHILL once again goes on the national map this week, with a special showcase piece travelling to the Birmingham motor show.
The steam-powered Serpollet, which usually resides at Bexhill Museum, is figuratively hitting the road to take the town's pride to the NEC.
Bexhill is the only place which can claim the title Birthplace of British Motor Racing, and it is only right this exhibit from 1902 is highlighting this fantastic piece of heritage.
Well done Bexhill 100 Motoring Club and Bexhill Museum for working together to bring the town into the spotlight.
