Sign Up to 10:10 Now

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the Climate Crunch and the Leader of Rother District Council's refusal to sign up to the 10:10 campaign.

Last week Liberal Democrats secured a debate in parliament on that campaign requesting that the Government sign up too. Our Conservative MP Greg Barker, congratulated them on securing the debate and went on to speak in support. Although defeated by a narrow margin, the motion was substantially supported by the majority of Conservative and Liberal Democrat members.

Following last weeks debate in Parliament I am asking everyone in Bexhill and Battle to sign up to the 10:10 campaign. I have done so myself even though it will be tough to find even more ways to reduce my carbon footprint.

Rother District Council has so far not made the commitment to sign up to this campaign to reduce carbon emissions by 10% by 2010. I hope that the support of both Conservatives and Liberal Democrats in Parliament for the campaign will shame Rother into making that commitment now.
