Bexhill’s favourite wooden sculptures have a new edition to the family with a lovable pet dog called Beechy Bob.
Salty Sam and Seaweed Sally have captured the imagination of the town as many people have left heartfelt messages of support in the wake of the vandalism last week.
Some handy craftsman was so inspired by the wooden beach couple they decided to make them a pet to add to the family.
Sam and Sally’s creator Andy Sharrocks said he has no idea where the dog came from but he thinks the creativity his sculptures have inspired is fantastic.
“I just find it fascinating the way it’s captured the people’s imagination it’s one of those great things.
“Every so often something comes along which is the right thing for the people and I think this has brought a lot of joy for people which is fantastic. I just never imagined a little driftwood figure would get people so excited.
Sam appeared a year ago this week and Sally arrived last month, but she was vandalised soon afterwards.
Many people have written messages to show the majority love the pair, with children writing warnings that Salty Sam ‘will get you’ if he is damaged.
Others have placed pebbles and written poems on the log.
