One hundred and ten new homes could be built on a plot of land in Bexhill if a planned development is given the go-ahead.

Barratt Homes revealed the proposals for the land off Pebsham Lane earlier this week and the housing company will now embark on a period of public consultation before finalising the details and pushing forward for full planning permission.

The scheme would see around 110 new homes on the site, which has already been earmarked for development by Rother District Council as part of the local authority’s North East Bexhill Supplementary Planning Document published back in 2009.

That report suggests the area offers a sustainable location for much-needed new homes.

Local residents can get their first glimpse of the proposals at Pebsham Community Centre on Wednesday (February 26) when Barratt Homes hosts an exhibition for members of the public.

Doors will open at 2pm and locals can drop-in anytime up until 7.30pm. Members of the development team will be on hand to discuss any concerns regarding the plans, or answer any questions on the project.

Nick Keeley, Planning Manager of Barratt Homes, said: “We are looking forward to meeting with members of the community and sharing our proposals in greater detail.

“We are keen to hear the view of local residents, businesses and other interested parties and would encourage anyone who has a question or is interested in the proposals to come along and discuss the plans with us.

“Members of our Development team will be on hand to answer any questions and comment forms will be available for attendees to provide a written response.”

The consultation period will run until Friday March 7 and provision has been made for local residents to give their views either at the exhibition, via a Freepost service, or by calling Freephone 0800 112 3540
