Police called to Bexhill College over '˜gun' incident

Police were called to Bexhill College on Monday afternoon (November 28) following reports that man had been seen with a gun.

Students had seen someone raise his jumper to reveal the handle of what was believed to be a gun in his waistband. The suspect was found in De La Warr Road and after a short pursuit, a 16-year-old from Hastings was arrested and charged with possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

The teenager, who is not a student, has been bailed to appear before Hastings Youth Court on December 13.
