Postman Lee Page must be a familiar face to many in Bexhill so he is hoping the town will get behind him in his bid to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Association.

Lee is set to run London Marathon after seeing the charity’s great work at first-hand.He said: “My wife Zara and I have four daughters between us - our youngest daughter Tia is three and has Down’s syndrome.

When we found out Tia had Down’s syndrome it was difficult to accept at first and we were worried about what the future would bring, mainly due to all the negative things we had heard about Down’s syndrome.

“We had and still have many questions about Tia’s future capabilities, but we know with her strong determination and wonderful support from her family and friends anything is possible.

“The first three years of Tia’s life have been tough at times as people with Down’s syndrome can be prone to certain health conditions, but we wouldn’t change Tia for the world and not a day goes by without her being able to bring a smile to our faces with her infectious personality. People with Down’s syndrome often take longer to reach their milestones, but they get there in their own time.

“My wife and I are members of the Down’s Syndrome Association which is a fantastic charity whose mission is to help people with Down’s Syndrome to live full and rewarding lives.”

Lee said he the charity does wonderful work and he has been full of admiration for the fundraising events people take part in to raise money.

He said: “So I decided to give something back and enter myself into a ballot for the London Marathon to raise money for the Down’s syndrome organisation.

Lo and behold I was accepted and now have to fulfil my obligation in running this iconic event on the 13/04/2014, raising as much money as I can in the process and raising the awareness of Down’s syndrome. I have been out running 3-4 times a week and I have just run the Hastings Half Marathon in preparation and we are now off on a family holiday returning the day before the London Marathon.

“If anyone would like to sponsor me they can at www.virginmoneygiving/fundraising4tia which will take you straight to my fundraising page or search for Lee Page on the Virgin money giving website.

Also you can look at which is the official Down’s syndrome Association website.”
