Prepare to be Z'Hulud at St Leonards jazz night

Preview: New Orleans Z'Hulus, Azur, Marina, St Leonards, tonight, 8pm.

One of the great European traditional jazz institutions, make their second visit to the 1066 Jazz Club, tonight.

The Z'Hulus were formed some thirty years ago and all of the members have much experience ofplaying in the New Orleans tradition.

Drummer/leader Maurice Van Eyck's unending devotion to the roots of this form of jazz, makes sure that the band remains within the confines of this early music.

Over the years many eminent musicians have passed through the Z'Hulu ranks and the present line up has several new Z'Hulu sons, which ensures the longevity of the music.

Sit back and relax or jump and dance, either way you will feel the spirit and become well and truly Z'Hulud.

Full line up: Dan Vercruysse (trumpet); John Defferary (clarinet); Phillipe de Smet (trombone); Emile Can Pelt (piano); Paul Sealey (banjo); Brian Turnock (string bass) and Maurice Van Eyck (drums).

Tickets are available at the door at the usual price of 6 for members and 8 guests, and membership is available at only 15 per year.

Next up at the 1066 Jazz Clubare Max Collie Rhythm Aces with Adrian Cox on clarinet a week today.
