After a wash-out week Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival enjoyed brilliant sunshine and big crowds.

Thousands of people packed onto the Stade to enjoy the two day event which is now in its 12th year.

Cllr Kim Forward, lead member for marketing, said: “With over 40 stalls, and thousands and thousands of visitors, this was one of the biggest and best Seafood and Wine Festivals ever. The weather was glorious too, which added to the fantastic party atmosphere.

“The Stade Open Space and, indeed, much of the Old Town, was packed throughout the weekend, as local produce was eagerly sampled.

“Top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli was extremely popular, and found time to walk around the festival and pose for numerous photos, and the music tent was also packed throughout the weekend, with Lianne Carroll’s Jazz Breakfast on Sunday morning another sell-out.

“Events like this are great for the town and its visitor economy, and I would like to thank the stallholders and musicians for supporting it, and our own staff and volunteers for all of the work they put into making the weekend the success it was.”

People were able to sample freshly cooked seafood dishes and enjoy local wines and locally brewed beer and cider.

As well as a great line-up of music in the marquee, there were performances on the Stade Open Space by the local Fiddle Choir and Hastings Ukulele Group.

Cookery demonstrations included how to forage for wild ingredients and turn them into a tasty meal.
