Service to welcome new rector at St Peter’s Church
A FRESH chapter begins in Bexhill’s Old Town parish of St Peter’s next week with a special service to welcome the church’s new rector.
The service, to be held on Thursday March 14, will see the Reverend David Reynish collated as the Team Rector of the Bexhill Team (comprising of St Peter’s and St Michael’s) with special responsibility for St Peter’s. The service will be conducted by the Rt Revd Dr Martin Warner, Bishop of Chichester, assisted by the Archdeacon of Lewes and Hastings, the Venerable Philip Jones. Afterwards a reception will be held at St Peter’s Community Centre.
Many church and local dignitaries are expected to attend the service including Bexhill Town Mayor Cllr Joanne Gadd.
Until recently Revd Reynish was vicar of the churches of Kelvedon and Feering in the Diocese of Chelmsford.
He said: “I welcome the challenge of a larger and more urban parish. Both myself and my wife Jenny are looking forward to getting to know Bexhill.”
A spokesperson for St Peter’s said it’s an exciting time for the church, adding: “The church congregation is looking forward to the new rector’s arrival, especially as the previous rector, Father Edward Bryant, retired over a year ago.”
