An impressive £5,000 was presented at the New Inn to two charities with deep significance to local people.

Over £4,400 was raised by a sponsored bungee jump day outside the pub with fundraisers flinging themselves from a platform 200ft above the car park.

Jo Vinall of the New Inn said: “We chose MacMillan Cancer Support as they had helped my dad, Dick Morton, in the latter stages of his life. We chose Cancer Research UK as a member of the local community, Danielle Crouch, passed away last August at only 32 years of age. These causes are also close to quite a few of our locals’ hearts.”

The New Inn donated £500 and another £105 was raised by raffling a Christmas cake made by Brenda Haigh bringing a total amount of £5025 to be split equally between the charities.

There were 14 jumpers on the day - Jo Vinall, Dan Highams who raised £1085.00 in memory of his friend Danielle Crouch, Arthur Brockhurst who did the jump in a Mankini, Pete Davis, Erin Taylor, Mal Goffey, James Painter, Tracie Shaw, Dave Hill, 12 year old Amilia Busby, Claire Jackson and Tony Helliwell.
