Speech therapy with Mercury Music Prize winner
If one Mercury Music Prize nominee isn't enough for you, the good people at the De La Warr Pavilion are serving up South London rapper Speech Debelle in March to follow on from the venue's hotly anticipated Bat For Lashes gig.
Debelle, real name Corynne Elliot, nailed first prize in the Mercury Prize, beating off competition from the likes of Kasabian and La Roux, with her debut release Speech Therapy.
Boasting a stack of songs informed by her intimate thoughts and intensified by the fragilty of her voice, the album was hailed a work of genius despite not shifting enough record sales to trouble the Hit Parade.
However, relatively weak public interest did not stop the award judges describing her as: "A remarkable new voice in British hip-hop - tough, warm and reflective."
Since that success she has parted company with her record label but continued making quality music in her own, uniquely beguiling way.
She will be joined in Bexhill by Micachu and the Shapes, led musical prodigy Mica Levi and combining rhythm, discord, melody and noise like no other.
Tickets, priced 12 or 10 with an NUS card, are set to sell quickly.
