St Leonards Festival set to bring smiles to community this weekend

A community festival this weekend will celebrate all things St Leonards.

The St Leonards Festival takes place on Saturday July 8 and Sunday 9 and the theme for this year’s festival is Home of the Resort-ful.

Festival director James Hodgson said: “ It promises to be a weekend filled with music, poetry , performance and community celebration.”

The Festival, organised by 111 Collectiff and sponsored by Hastings Borough Council, takes place at Warrior Square Garden, Kings Road and the seafront.

Highlights will include a grand parade along the seafront and there will be quirky fun and games such as odd socks bingo and The Ragged Trouser competition.

New additions this year include a Charabanc of Travelling Poets and Discover St Leonards, which gives local artists and performers a chance to showcase their skills.

The fun starts at 11am on Saturday and the headliners, on the Saturday will be the Martin Blackman Band, playing from 5pm - 6pm.

Acts on Sunday include Trombone Poet, Gizmo Kids Performance, Hastings Town Singers, Hastings Gospel Choir and headliners the Aultones who take to the stage at 4.40pm. There will be a market in Kings Road, on Saturday, with over 40 stalls.

Other attractions include children’s story-telling sessions, puppetry, a fun dog show, a virtual reality workshop, a performance of Midsummer’s Night Dream and Folk Dance Re-mixed street dancing show.
