Youngsters across Bexhill who are hoping Father Christmas pays them a visit next month won’t believe their eyes when hundreds of Santas descend on the town’s promenade for a mammoth fundraiser.

Bexhill Lions is holding the town’s first ever Santa dash when it hopes scores of locals will don a red suit and a white beard to raise money for their chosen charities.

The sponsored event will take place on Saturday December 7, with everyone who takes part collecting their outfits from the De La Warr Pavilion terrace beforehand.

It’s open to all ages and abilities and people taking part can run, jog, jingle, push prams, walk or use a wheelchair on the flat, user friendly routes along the promenade.

There is a choice of two routes: one is 1.2miles long, the other 3.1miles, both starting near the fountains before returning to the De La Warr for refreshments. Adults and children over five years of age will receive a free Santa suit and youngsters a Santa hat. All participants will also receive a medal and organisers are keen to see some decorated buggies dotted along the course.

Bexhill Lions’ head of fundraising Richard Winrow said: “We want the whole town to get behind this event and come along to have some fun, as the sight of hundreds of Santas taking part will add to the enjoyment for participants and spectators alike.Although the main aim is to raise funds for charites, we also want to put the fun into fundraising”

Full details available online at and registration will be available on the day from 10.30am at the De La Warr. The event itself gets underway at 11.30am.
