Woodsgate Park Overbridge will open to traffic on Monday morning after the rush hour.
The bridge has already been open to pedestrians to give access as early as possible - which was why a temporary footpath route was provided across the bridge deck while other work was completed.
East Sussex County Council explains the delay of opening this new bridge is down to factors such as weather and unexpected ground conditions which influenced the precise timings of individual works.
As part of the normal pre-opening checks some adjustments have been made to the adjacent fencing and road markings whilst completion of the parapet walls will continue in due course.
Bob Pape, Link Road project manager for East Sussex County Council, said : “We appreciate the construction has taken longer than we first envisaged and that this has prolonged the inconvenience to local residents and businesses, but we are grateful for their continuing co-operation and support.”
The overall construction of the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road remains on course to open in May 2015 as planned, bringing “very significant economic benefits” to Bexhill and Hastings.
