A Belgian student who died after being hit by a Bexhill man’s car in Eastbourne on Wednesday (August 12) has been named.

She was Juliette Lamon, 16, from Uccle, Brussels, Belgium.

The 45-year-old Bexhill driver who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed until October 14.

Miss Lamon died at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton following the collision with a grey Hyundai car on Susans Road near the junction with Pevensey Road shortly after 11pm.

She had been visiting Eastbourne with an international language school.

An investigation into the collision continues and Sussex Police are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They can do so by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phoning 101, quoting Operation Coat.
